Newt Gingrich on Terrorism

The below 5-minute CNN video was sent to me by a friend and is a must viewing.
Newt Gingrich answers a question at the National Press Club about the war on terrorism. He says things that others are thinking but are afraid to say. He says things that we all should consider when we vote in 2008.

Newt nailed it. I’ve been trying to sing this song to my friends and family (non-conservative and conservative alike) for years. No one is listening. Everyone wants to forget 9-11, or to simply appease the Islamo-nazis.
I have two good friends, mid-east muslims, who shy away from the discussion, avert their eyes, even walk away when I ask them when the muslim world will rise in condemnation of the absurd excesses of ferocity and bestiality of the killers. I ask them, “can’t you see that in your silence and passivity you are lending perceived support to these butchers?” I am sure they do see, and at first I thought, maybe in their hearts they really DO support the animals, but now I don’t think so. Instead, I think they are terrified – they seem to be afraid of reprisals or isolation if they speak out. They don’t know who in their circle may be a secret supporter of terrorism, and they have been trained for centuries to follow the lead of the imams, and not speak out. If the imams don’t object publicly, they hold their peace. They are deeply ashamed and traumatized at what the butchers do in the name of their beloved religion…but they are too scared to speak out.
At least, that is what I think.
