King County Ups Your Taxes

Posted by Warren Peterson on November 16, 2007

Credit goes to my wife for coming up with this one.

She speculated that King County Executive Ron Sims opposed the Roads and Transit Proposition because it raised taxes so high that he would not be able to hit the tax payers again with new taxes for mental health, river levies and, what one talk radio listener called, the King County Navy. She also said the new taxes explained Councilman Larry Phillips’ campaign ad in which he said “I’ll make King County’s priorities your priorities.”

Between the tax raising County Council and the silly State Supreme Court ruling striking down the one percent property tax limit, could a Washington State tax revolt be in coming down the pike?
